Omega can offer a complete reclamation system for Green Sand back to Coreshop with output ranging from 3 tonnes per hour up to 10 tonnes per hour.

The plant first breaks the lumps to grain size and then screens off all metal pieces, the sand is then dried and passed through the first stage scrubbing Pro-claim unit.  The first stage scrubbing removes the majority of bentonite, clay and other additives which can be reused at the green sand mill.  The sand is then processed through an Omega Thermal reclamation furnace to remove all the residual organic binder.  Finally, the sand is scrubbed again by a second Pro-claim to remove any dead clay that still remains attached to the sand grains.  After final cooling and dust removal the sand is returned back to the coreshop for re-use.

  • Typically, we achieve 70% yield from the green sand mix
  • Reclaimed bentonite and coal dust can be reused at the mill
  • The reclaimed silica sand can be successfully reused in the coreshop up to 90%
  • Improved sand quality and reduction in expansion defects is commonly noticed
  • Low maintenance and running costs
  • Sand test facility available
