Isfahan Exhibition, Iran

6th International Exhibition
of Steel, Metallurgy, Foundry, and Related Mines & Industries

Held: Wednesday July 28 to Saturday July 31st 2010

Location: Shahrestan Historical Bridge, Isfahan, Iran

The Isfahan exhibition was very successful as a local exhibition. The location on the Shahrestan Historical Bridge, which is beautiful, was very nice. We received a warm welcome and good interest from local Iranian foundries.

We were pleased to meet with several women engineer visitors who were all very well informed.

We met with managers from Iranzob. They told us they still have got an Omega 1992 model articulated mixer and said “It is still in operation and in very good condition."

AIR AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION- 5 counties charity bike ride 2010

Air Ambulance

Steve Lilley - Project Engineer with OFML, along with some friends and his father (also called Steve Lilley), recently took part in the 5 counties Bike Marathon for charity to raise money for the Air Ambulance Association.

The ride took place on Sunday 30th May 2010 and started and finished at the Ketton Cement Works. The 5 counties covered by the Bike Marathon were Rutland, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

All in all the route covered 100 miles and 45 people took part. The fund raising team was Steve, his father and his pals Ian Roberts, Steve Bland (who are part time firemen with Steve at Stamford Fire Station) plus other friend Steve Woods (who is based at Market Deeping Fire Station )

The guys raised £ 600 on the day. The total raised for the whole day’s event was £10,000 but this is still rising as more money comes in.

The organizers are splitting the money raised between the Derbyshire,Rutland & Leicestershire Air Ambulance, the Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, the East Anglian Air Ambulance and the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

Well done guys.

The Air Ambulance is a wonderful service to the community across the whole of the U.K.

Jamie Phillips completes an IRONMAN CHALLENGE

Jamie Phillips left OMEGA to study Product Design Engineering at Brunel University in West London and he is enjoying the course immensely.

Jamie is back with working us until university resumes again in October.

Before February 2010 Jamie could not swim, had never ridden a proper road–bike and in fact had not cycled at all since he was a small boy.

He likes a challenge however and was attracted to the triathlon as an event. He had swimming lessons then joined a triathlon club in London and trained really hard.

As a “warm up” Jamie entered the Ironman 70.3 (Half Ironman) which was held at Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor on Sunday June 20th 2010

Then on Sunday 1st August 2010 Jamie completed a full Ironman competition held in Bolton, Lancashire

The competition started outside of Bolton at Pennington Flash near Wigan and ended at Bolton town centre.

25 Years of Service

OMEGA FOUNDRY
MACHINERY LTD

Celebrating 25 years serving the Foundry Industry worldwide

Omega Foundry Machinery Ltd was formed in 1984 from the result of a management buy out from the then parent company Baker Perkins in Peterborough and set up operations in Orton Southgate on the edge of the city

Since that time, the company has continued to specialise in the manufacture of equipment for the ‘chemically bonded’ or ‘no-bake’ process. The company has grown and grown and new premises were acquired to deal with the expansion of what is now a considerable worldwide operation including our sister companies in the USA Tinker Omega Manufacturing LLC and Omega Sane PVT LTD in India.

The design department at OFML is equipped with the latest 3-D computer aided technology to ensure the company remains at the forefront of equipment development. Our trained service engineers are capable of overseeing large foundry installations either in the UK or overseas. We also have a global network of excellent agents, distributors and overseas-based technical support staff dedicated to providing the optimum level of customer support.

Since 1984 the OFML operation in the UK has supplied the following equipment :

  • Sand Mixers: 1,345
  • Sand Reclamation units: 709
  • Carousels & Fast Loops: 55
  • Core Machines: 105
  • Plus Spare Parts, Service Agreements and other Miscellaneous Foundry Equipment.
Further expansion occurred in October 2008 when Richards Engineering Ltd, Leicester became a wholly owned subsidiary of OFML. This acquisition brought in the expertise and products in both the Thermal Sand Reclamation and Chromite & minerals Separation to the Group portfolio. We can now offer the full spectrum of products for Foundry Sand Reclamation.

To celebrate this landmark 25 years achievement all Omega & Richards employees and their families have been invited to a gathering at Orton Hall near Peterborough on Sunday 6th of September 2009 for a day of “fun & games”. There will be a barbeque and refreshments.

HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY OMEGA

Race for Life

In a world where greed, fraud and general dishonesty is being reported in newspapers, seemingly every day, it is refreshing to be reminded of all the millions of unselfish people there are in the world. These are people who care about fellow human beings. There are so many people around the world with busy jobs & lives who still find time to quietly help other people in charitable ways. These people everywhere in the world should be thanked and applauded.

One such person is our own Linda Martin at Omega Foundry Machinery Ltd in Peterborough
Linda has a very busy job and life but she entered a a run called “Race for Life” held May 15th 2009 in the grounds of the very famous stately home Burghley House near Stamford in Lincolnshire, England. Almost 4000 women of all ages gave up their Sunday morning and laced up their running shoes to take part in aid of Cancer Research.

Race for Life has raised over £100 million since 2004 for the charity and this years total is expected to be a staggering £46 million. Linda herself raised £750 on this one day.

So well done and thank you to Linda and well done and thank you everyone who takes part in important fund raising anywhere in the world.

OMEGA Agents’ Conference in Istanbul
13th and 15th October 2008

The majority of Omega’s worldwide agents attended a very successful conference at the Novotel Hotel in Istanbul. There were 70 delegates from 28 countries at the conference.

There was two days of technical presentations designed to ensure all agents received up to date information regarding Omega products and recent activities in the world market place.

Mark Fenyes – Chairman & Managing Director welcomed delegates to the conference.

Mark invited Ian Bailey of Richards Engineering Ltd, Leicester (which is now a wholly owned subsidiary of OFML) to address the conference to introduce himself and the Richards products to those attending. All Richards products were covered but there was special emphasis on the very successful Thermal Reclamation concept and also the excellent Chromite Separation equipment.

On the second day there was an extremely professional presentation by Mr Hakan Yasar of the Turkish foundry company Entil He showed slides of the brand new superbly planned operation they have just installed using a predominance of equipment supplied by Omega. It had been hoped to visit the foundry but logistically it was difficult due to its location to the south of Istanbul. Nevertheless all delegates were very impressed by presentation.

The two days were informative but also very enjoyable, enabling delegates from various countries to meet and share knowledge.

As well as the formal side of the conference there was a very enjoyable social side to the proceedings. There was a Ladies programme for the partners of delegates not attending the technical presentations. This included guided tours of all the major attractions in Istanbul. All the Ladies thoroughly enjoyed a very full but interesting time in Istanbul.

On the Tuesday night there was a visit for everyone to a restaurant in the Fish Bazaar area of the city including typical traditional Turkish entertainment of music and dancing. The fish was superb and a great time was had by all.

Our final evening was spent on a boat cruising on the Bosphorus enjoying good food and music. At the end of the night Mark Fenyes picked up the microphone and thanked everyone for participating. He then presented Linda Martin of OFML with a gift to thank for her excellent organisation of the event.

EXHIBITION IN TURKEY

Following the Conference delegates were able to visit the ANKIROS Exhibition in Istanbul from 16th to 19th October 2008.

The exhibition was very well attended with visitors from many parts of the world.

Omega had an excellent stand that generated much interest. The stand was predominately manned by GSA who are OMEGA agents in Turkey with input from various members of the OMEGA UK team.

Omega Foundry Machinery Announces the
Aquisition of Richards Engineering Inc.

I am very pleased to announce that Omega Foundry Machinery Ltd has acquired the business and assets of Richards Engineering Inc.

As you may be aware Richards are the market leaders in thermal reclamation systems. They also manufacture sand driers, Chromite separation, shell sand coating plants along with their own range of sand mixers, mechanical reclamation plants, core shooters, etc.

Based in Leicester in the United Kingdom, Richards  was a subsidiary of Vulcan Engineering Inc who are based in the USA. The current product line also includes robotic fettling, grinders, etc. and all of these items will stay with Vulcan and for the short-term will operate out of the existing premises in Leicester on a sub-lease basis to us.

It is my intention to trade as Richards Engineering Ltd. This also means that we will honour any existing agreements that are currently in place such as agencies, manufacturing licences, etc. Initially there may be geographical sales areas where both Omega and Richards are represented by different agents but working in the same market.

As part of the assets we have also acquired the intellectual property and manufacturing rights for the 'Fordath' range of equipment, and it is my intention to resurrect certain product ranges that fall under this banner as I believe it will be a benefit to us in certain markets.

The management and employees of Richards will remain with the company and operate out of the existing premises. I am in particular pleased to announce that Ian Bailey whom has been instrumental in developing their product range will also be retained as Operations Manager.

The management of Omega sees this as a very positive move and one that will consolidate Omega's position in the market place both from an equipment standpoint and geographical sales.

Mark Fenyes
Chairman
